• Septoplasty – This is an outpatient procedure which is commonly performed in the operating room under general anesthesia.  It is beneficial for those individuals who suffer from nasal blockage subsequent to trauma or due to anatomic deviation of the partition wall that separates the nasal chambers, also known as the nasal septum.  These individuals may also suffer from reduced ability to smell, recurrent nose bleeds (epistaxis), mouth breathing during sleep or strenuous physical activity, and snoring.  During this procedure, deviations from the straight line due to congenital or traumatic reasons are corrected through a scar free endonasal approach that targets functional restoration only.  Septoplasty is commonly combined with rhinoplasty (see below) in order to address nasal shape deformities for cosmetic and/or functional reasons.
  • Rhinoplasty – This is an outpatient procedure that is used to restore the shape of the nose to a cosmetically desirable form.  The key, however, to a successful outcome is addressing both cosmesis and function.  Dr. Falsafi is uniquely qualified to achieve these goals by using fundamental reconstructive principles in order to create both a cosmetically pleasing result and a functionally superior nose.
  • Inferior turbinate volume reduction – This is an outpatient procedure during which the bulk of inferior turbinates is reduced using variety of methods such as submucous resection or RF ablation which utilizes radio frequency to achieve a volumetric reduction in the size of the turbinates.  It is particularly useful for those individuals with long standing nasal congestion which has responded minimally to topical medication.  It is often combined with other nasal surgeries in order to achieve optimal nasal patency.
  • Treatment of recurrent nose bleeds (Epistaxis) – Accurate determination of the cause of nose bleed dictates treatment options.  In this regard, Dr. Falsafi is uniquely qualified to address the medical as well as surgical issues that relate to epistaxis.  Correct diagnosis gives Dr. Falsafi the ability to devise the most appropriate treatment strategies for each patient.
  • Smell disorders – Correct diagnosis of the cause of this condition is critical as certain tumors of the cranial base may be responsible for its presence.  Also, other conditions such as nasal obstruction, nasal allergies, nasal polyps, and chronic sinus disease may be at fault.  Individualized treatment strategies are devised depending on the nature of the disease process.
